Connecting your domain to Brikl involves setting up DNS records and domain forwarding. For GoDaddy and Google Domains, contact your domain support.
For Non-CPanel Domain Managers like GoDaddy or Google Domains
Connecting your domain to Brikl can seem intimidating, but don't worry! Reach out to your domain support team and provide them with this message:
"I would like to create a ‘www’ subdomain of my yourdomain.com domain that points to ‘webserver. brikl.store’ and then forward my root domain, yourdomain.com, to that subdomain."
They can guide you through the process accurately. If you prefer to add these records yourself, follow the instructions below for Google Domains and GoDaddy. Be aware that these changes can take 1 to 72 hours to propagate, during which your site will be unavailable. Once the changes have been propagated, we will complete the process on our end.
Setting Up Your Domain
Creating a CNAME Record for 'www'
1. Sign in to your Domain Manager.
2. Select your domain name (e.g., yourdomain.com).
3. Click Menu > DNS at the top left.
4. Ensure the Google Domains tab is set to “Google Domains (Active).” If it’s set to “Custom (Active),” configure resource records with your name server provider.
5. Under Resource records, click Custom records > Manage custom records. Add the following values:
Type: CNAME
HOST/NAME: www
VALUE: webserver.brikl.store
6. Click Save.
If a CNAME record for www already exists, change its “Value” to webserver.brikl.store.
Forwarding the Domain
1. Open Google Domains on your computer.
2. Click the domain name Menu > Website.
3. Under Forward to an existing web page, click Forward domain.
4. Under Forward from, click Edit.
5. Enter the domain or subdomain you want to forward and the URL or IP address you want to forward it to (e.g., https://www.yourdomain.com).
6. Click Forward.
7. Verify that your domain is forwarded to the intended location.

FAQs
Can we have a domain name without 'www'?
No, Brikl does not support “Naked Domains” (domains without 'www'). A www. record pointing to sites.brikl.com is necessary.
Why do changes take so long to take effect?
DNS changes must propagate across all Name Servers, which can take up to 72 hours.
Can Brikl Support make changes for us? No, due to the complexity of individual accounts. It's best to have your support team complete this task using the provided script.
Can I use my site immediately after making DNS changes? No, the site will be unavailable until the changes have fully replicated.
What do these records do?
A Records: Hold the IP address of the server containing your website files.
AAAA Records: Similar to A records but use IPv6.
CNAME Records: Allow domain forwarding to our system.
Are there risks to changing DNS Records? Yes, there may be potential downtime for other sites hosted with your DNS provider.
What's the difference between DNS records for pointing a domain vs. email configuration?
CNAME: www.example.com to sites.brikl.com → example.com → www.example.com
MX and DKIM: Email-related records. DKIM prevents spoofing.
Who needs to do this?
Brikl's support team can help with understanding, but the merchant is responsible for managing these systems.
Are there any risks associated with changing DNS Records?
During replication, the site may not be available, leading to potential "Page not Found" errors.
